Ultimate Guide to Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve

What is it?

Caumsett Park is a large, elegant park that's great for outdoor enthusiasts who love gorgeous landscapes. This relaxing area has horses, a walled garden and nice views of Huntington Bay from a beach. Many people use this park for a photography backdrop for their Caumsett State Park wedding, though you'll need a permit to do so. The park is clean and well-maintained.

According to New York State, the park was named "after its Matinecock Indian name, Caumsett, which means ‘place by a sharp rock.'"

Our favorite state park in all of Long Island. Elegant, expansive, well maintained, safe. Most people do the mansion and back - a 4 mile round trip all on paved, wide roads. Perfect for bikes, strollers, a relaxing long stroll.

Really beautiful preserve and park. Great amount of walks and trails. The stables are cool. The area is just beautiful. Parking gets full early so plan ahead.
